About the Artist
Vyvyan Green is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Yorksire-born, he attended Wakefield College of Art in 1963 and 1964. Giving up his art sudies, he pursued a career in construction, eventually moving to Canada in 1980.
It was not to be until 1987 that he picked up his brushes again. Since then, he has become a full time artist and has exhibited in many one-man and multiple artist shows and exhibitions.
Working almost exclusively in watercolour, he has developed a unique style and range, and is particularly noted for his creation of mood and movement. His sources of inspiration are rich and varied: The world around him, memory, music, mythology, poetry. Whether his images are of actual places, or drawn from the imagination and subconscious, they all have one thing in common; his attempt to capture and reveal a world that, as he constantly reminds us, "smokes".
Vyvyan Green now lives in Stratford, Ontario, where he passes his time painting and generally enjoying himself. You will find him most weekends, from June until September, down by the river in Stratford where, for the past decade, he has been displaying his artwork, along with other members of the Art in the Park Association of Stratford.
